YouTube has announced a new feature to improve the experience for its users: offer video summaries before we click to watch them. This new feature will make use of artificial intelligence to analyze the video content in detail.
As the company itself has advanced in a statement, the objective of this novelty is to make it “easier to read a quick summary on a video.” For now, it will be used with English videos, and will be available to a limited number of users.
The company, which is part of the Alphabet technology company, also states: “While we hope these summaries are helpful and give the user a quick overview of what a video is about, they are not a replacement for video descriptions (which are written by the creators).
In addition, these summaries will be a good option to avoid the cheap tricks that content creators use to increase their visits, since clickbait titles, which do not reflect the true content of the video, proliferate in the app.
At the moment, there is no official information on whether it will be extended to more users or if it will be activated in the videos in Spanish. These experiments that YouTube launches are usually available for a short time and seek to gather information to decide later if it is worth implementing said function.
It is not the first time that Google has opted for artificial intelligence tools. This year, the company launched its Bard chatbot and the new Play Store feature that allows users to summarize the opinions of the app’s users through this technology.
