The rumors were true: Metal Gear Solid 3 will return as a remake. This acclaimed stealth action game originally released in 2004 for PlayStation 2 will be getting an update and its first trailer has been unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase.
Konami Digital Entertainment has presented the game at Sony’s digital event and has confirmed that, in addition to coming out for PlayStation 5, the game will also have versions for Xbox Series and PC (Steam).
The first trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater – as this new version will be called – does not show real gameplay images, but it does offer a first look at its iconic protagonist.
“A new generation of players and fans will be able to experience the origin story of the famous Big Boss and witness how his legend was forged in the crucible of Operation Snake Eater,” Konami said in a press release.
The Japanese company has confirmed that the remake will feature the dubbing actors of the original title. Who will not be involved will be the original director of Metal Gear Solid 3, the designer Hideo Kojima, who since leaving Konami in 2015 has been linked to the saga that he himself created in 1987.
Coinciding with the remake announcement, Konami has also unveiled a compilation of the first three Metal Gear Solid installments.
“Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will allow fans to play the games as they were when they were first released, but now on the latest platforms,” the press release states.
