Would you like to see the route to the destination you want to go to as if it were a video game? Google Maps has set the bar very high in its latest presentation of news, where it shows the new immersive view for routes that brings a 3D vision of the path you are going to do with great detail and like you have never seen it before.
This has been presented at Google I/O 2023, where the great innovations of the Mountain View company have been shown, highlighting that with the new immersive view for routes it is much easier to understand where you want to go thanks to three dimensions that offers the renewed service.
In addition to being able to see the streets, roads and buildings in 3D, this option also adds information such as weather or traffic to give you a better idea of what is happening in that place. Another of its great uses is being able to get an idea of what the destination where you are going is like without ever having been before, showing a representation as if it were a video game.
Beyond this modeling with realistic volume and shapes, with the new immersive view for routes you can access a bird’s eye view that will help you better visualize the landmarks and buildings that you might see while navigating somewhere new, with the aforementioned traffic simulations with real information.
Google has not yet specified what day this new immersive view will be put into operation worldwide, but has announced that it will be in the “next few months” and it will begin to be operational in 15 cities: Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo and Venice.
The new immersive view of Google Maps uses “computer vision and artificial intelligence to merge billions of aerial and Street View images and create a rich digital model of the world,” the technology giant highlights. We will still have to wait to see first-hand the next revolution in Google navigation.
