Police in Miami have given the all clear after investigating a suspicious package found in a downtown parking garage. The package was reported at 650 NE 2nd Ave, leading to street closures and residents of a nearby high-rise unable to return home. The area was cordoned off by officers, blocking vehicular and pedestrian traffic from Northeast First to Second avenues and between Northeast Seventh and Eighth streets.

The Miami Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene to assess the package, prompting a warning for the public to avoid the area and for residents nearby to stay indoors. Residents were seen waiting behind caution tape, eager to return home but unable to do so. One resident, Will Kepler, described the situation as chaotic, with fire trucks and bomb squad personnel arriving on the scene.

Another resident, Raphaela Silva, shared her experience of being stuck outside her apartment building after returning from work. Both residents received messages from their building management about hazardous materials in the parking garage, causing further concern among the community. The management of Bezel Apartments informed residents of a temporary shutdown of the elevators as a safety precaution.

After several hours of investigation, the bomb squad confirmed that the package was not a threat, and the scene was cleared just before 11 p.m. Police and fire rescue crews left the area, and residents were finally able to return to their homes.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and quick response from law enforcement in dealing with potential threats. It also highlights the impact such situations can have on residents and the surrounding community, causing inconvenience and uncertainty until the all-clear is given. As we navigate through these uncertain times, it is crucial to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
