Stellar Blade already has a release date: it will arrive on April 26 exclusively on PlayStation 5. It is an action and role-playing game developed by the South Korean studio Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The release date has been announced during the State of Play on January 31 along with a new trailer full of gameplay.
The first thing that surprises you when you see Stellar Blade is its visuals, although the gameplay shows that the new Shift Up also relies on complex, demanding and challenging gameplay. The mechanics of an RPG, such as improving equipment and customizing the protagonist, are mixed with the combat style of a NieR: Automata-type Hack and Slash.
As for the story, Stellar Blade is set in the not-too-distant future in which humanity has been expelled from Earth after suffering an invasion. The few remaining humans have taken refuge in space and send Eve, a parachute soldier, back to the planet with the aim of saving humanity.
Following the comparisons with NieR: Automata, the combats will mix hand-to-hand combat with swords with shooting. And, from Shift Up, they promise great battles against very challenging final bosses.
In fact, Stellar Blade is the first video game that Shift Up develops for consoles. Before this, they published computer and mobile games such as Goddess of Victory in 2022, Defense War: Tower Defense in 2020 and Destiny Child in 2016.
Stellar Blade will arrive exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024.
