Sony has presented a new edition of its State of Play news program, dedicated this time to the games that will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 in the coming months. Among the titles that have been shown during this online event, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 stand out.
Below, we select the main announcements and new trailers of this State of Play for September 2023.
The new video game based on James Cameron’s film saga has been shown with a new trailer. This title is being developed by the Swedish studio Massive Entertainment, with the multinational Ubisoft behind it. Its release date is set for December 4.
Sony is aware that it needs to give its PSVR2 virtual reality headset a push, and that is why several announcements have been related to this device. The first of them has been this “Ghostbusters” game, which will be published on October 26 and will allow four players to participate in a cooperative adventure.
Resident Evil 4 Remake, the latest installment in the popular game series from Japanese Capcom, will be even more terrifying later this year, when its version for PSVR2 arrives. During the presentation it was confirmed that this more immersive modality will be available this coming winter.
At the same time, it has also been announced that Separate Ways, a downloadable content for the original game starring Ada Wong, will go on sale on September 21.
Swedish studio Arrowhead Game Studios is behind this third-person action title. As can be seen in the trailer, Helldivers II will stand out for its cooperative gameplay. During the presentation it was revealed that it will arrive in stores on February 8, 2024.
The new adventure of Peter Parker and Miles Morales will hit stores on October 20 for PS5, but that has not prevented Sony from taking the opportunity to show a new trailer. The story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will take place shortly after the previous installment and, for the first time, will allow the player to take control of the two spider superheroes.
The sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake has been shown with a new and spectacular trailer that, as in previous Sony presentations, has been in charge of closing the presentation. In addition, it has been announced that it will go on sale for PlayStation 5 on February 29.
