A group of friends from South Florida went on a bachelorette party trip to North Carolina, but their plans took a turn when Hurricane Helene stranded them. The eight friends arrived at their mountaintop Airbnb in Asheville, North Carolina, after facing travel difficulties on Thursday. However, the following morning, the remnants of Hurricane Helene left them stuck on the mountaintop.

Carina Weber, one of the friends, shared their experience of the aftermath of the hurricane. She mentioned the damage they witnessed, including their attic falling through to their bed, trees knocked over, and a scarcity of food and water. With no power in their Airbnb, no cell phone signal, and blocked roads, they had to seek help from neighbors who were also stranded but had more resources.

After finding neighbors who provided them with food and water, the group ventured out on Monday morning to hike down to a lodge for further assistance. It took them a few hours to reach the lodge, where they were finally able to make their way to the airport and return home. They expressed gratitude towards the neighbors and others who helped them during this challenging time.

Carina Weber emphasized the importance of staying calm in such situations and knowing that help is available, even if it may not seem so initially due to a lack of communication. She also mentioned their plans to pay it forward by sending donations to assist Hurricane Helene victims in Asheville.

The group’s experience serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of natural disasters and the importance of being prepared and helping one another in times of need. Despite the challenges they faced, their story highlights the resilience and kindness of communities coming together in the face of adversity.
