Sony has presented a new, lighter PlayStation 5 with a removable disk reader. This redesign of the console will maintain the rest of the specifications of the original model, will have the same price in Europe and is expected to begin arriving in stores starting this November.
Since last August, when the first images of this updated version of PS5 were leaked, the Japanese company was expected to unveil this new model.
The PS5 redesign will reduce the size of the device by 30% and its weight by 18% or 24%, depending on whether it is the model with or without a disc reader.
Another exclusive novelty of the digital-only version will be the ability to attach a removable Blu-Ray disc module, which will be sold separately and will cost 119.99 euros.
More changes. Just as the original PS5 models were sold with a support to put the console vertically, in these new models this support will not be included. The new vertical support must be purchased separately and will cost 29.99 euros.
Sony has reported that the two new PS5 models will maintain the price that the current ones already have in Europe. It should be remembered that in August 2022 the electronics giant already raised the price of the two models by 50 euros in Europe.
Thus, the new lighter PS5 with Blu-Ray reader will have a recommended price of 549.99 euros, while the digital-only version will remain at 449.99 euros.
Regarding availability, the Japanese company has reported that “the new model will replace the previous one once its stock is exhausted and can be found in regular stores starting this November.”
