In West Miami-Dade, 7News cameras captured hundreds of FPL trucks ready to deploy from the Miami-Dade Youth Fairgrounds. This is just one of the many staging areas across the state where FPL crews are stationed.
With thousands of trucks on standby, FPL is well-prepared to spring into action when needed. In addition to their own trucks, there are also support vehicles to help clear the way for the power trucks. FPL spokesperson Bianca Soriano emphasized the readiness of the 17,000 men and women throughout Florida who are poised to respond to outages as soon as it is safe to do so.
It’s not just FPL employees who are on standby – linemen and women from other utility companies across the country have also gathered in Florida to assist in power restoration efforts. Soriano mentioned that crews from as far as Washington State and California are in Florida to lend a helping hand.
As Hurricane Milton approaches, these crews are bracing themselves for challenging conditions, especially considering the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on the west coast of the state a few weeks ago. Despite the tough circumstances, FPL is committed to working tirelessly to restore power to every customer as quickly as possible.
