Two exotic servals found themselves in an unexpected situation after being rescued from a car crash in St. Louis County. The animals, native to Africa, were injured in the accident, with one of them showing signs of blood on its nose. Thanks to the quick response of the authorities, the servals were taken to a local veterinary hospital for treatment.

The rescued servals are now safe and sound at the APA Adoption Center in Olivette. They are currently being cared for and are on a diet of raw chicken. Due to their unique situation, the servals have been placed in the shelter’s “dog quarantine” area, where they can receive the specialized care they need.

Dr. Kanika Cunningham, the St. Louis County health director, highlighted the efforts made to accommodate the servals at the shelter. In order to make space for the exotic cats, several of the shelter’s large dogs had to be relocated. This adjustment was necessary to ensure the well-being of all the animals under the shelter’s care.

As a result of taking in the servals, the APA Adoption Center in Olivette is now over capacity. To help alleviate this situation, the shelter has decided to waive adoption fees for all pets from November 8 through November 10. This initiative aims to encourage people to open their hearts and homes to animals in need, including those affected by the recent car crash.

Although the rescued servals are not currently available for adoption, the APA Adoption Center has many other pets that are in search of loving families. If you are considering adopting or fostering a pet, you can visit the APA’s website to see the animals that are ready for their forever homes.

By supporting the APA Adoption Center and other animal shelters, you can make a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.
