A swimmer went missing in deep waters in Miami Beach, leading to a large-scale search effort by rescue crews. The incident occurred at 100 South Point Drive, near the jetty, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Beach Police received 911 calls reporting two swimmers in distress just over thirty minutes later.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a good Samaritan had managed to rescue a girl who was in trouble. Unfortunately, the other swimmer, a friend of the girl, could not be located. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear at this time.

Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders were contacted for assistance by Miami Beach Fire Rescue around 6:30 p.m. An urgent marine information broadcast was issued, and Miami Beach Fire Rescue took charge of the search efforts. Helicopters were deployed to search from above, while ground units combed the beach and ocean. The search was called off around 9 p.m. after covering approximately a mile in the area.

The missing swimmer is still the subject of an active investigation as of Sunday evening. The authorities are working diligently to determine the whereabouts of the individual.
