The incident occurred after a Hollywood Police officer attempted to de-escalate a situation between neighbors on Eaton Street. As a result, the officer was forced to fire his weapon, although it is unclear how many shots were discharged.
Following the altercation, the officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and his current condition is unknown. The Hollywood Police PIO provided a statement regarding the incident, explaining that the officer encountered the suspect after receiving a call about a neighbor dispute in the area. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation to determine the use of force during the altercation.
At this time, it is uncertain whether the subject involved in the altercation was struck by the officer’s gunfire. A man was seen being questioned by authorities while seated in the back of a police car, but it is unclear if any arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
