The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department recently hosted a special career day for young female students in Coral Springs. The event, called Ignite the Flame camp, aimed to introduce girls to the world of firefighting through a one-day program.

During the camp, middle school students were able to experience what it’s like to be a firefighter. They participated in search-and-rescue exercises, as well as strength and endurance building activities. The goal was to give them a taste of the physical challenges that firefighters face in real-life scenarios.

One of the participants, Natalia, expressed her excitement about the camp. She mentioned that it was a great opportunity to showcase her strength and skills, and it inspired her to consider a career in firefighting. Natalia also highlighted the fun aspect of the camp, as it allowed her to learn more about the profession in an engaging way.

The camp was led by female fire instructors from various parts of Florida. This was a deliberate choice to provide the girls with strong female role models in a male-dominated field. By seeing women in leadership positions within the fire department, the participants were able to envision themselves pursuing a similar career path in the future.

Overall, the Ignite the Flame camp was a success in not only introducing girls to firefighting but also in inspiring them to consider a career in this noble profession. The hands-on activities and mentorship provided by female firefighters left a lasting impression on the young participants, showing them that they too can become real-life heroes.
