PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Noah Syndergaard is getting closer and closer to game action.

The Mets’ ace threw live batting practice on Saturday for the first time this spring. He worked from the windup and the stretch, throwing to both righties and lefties. Syndergaard didn’t hold back, throwing hard throughout.

Syndergaard’s roommate, Robert Gsellman, and Matt Harvey also threw to live hitters.

Is Conforto’s swing back?

Syndergaard is one of a few starting pitchers currently sporting mustaches. They’re staying tight-lipped (no pun intended) about the reason behind the ‘staches, with Jacob deGrom saying, “It just showed up,” and nothing more.

The Mets will play their home Grapefruit League opener at 1:10 p.m. against the Washington Nationals at First Data Field.
