Egypt Holds Guinea-Bissau to Draw in World Cup Qualifiers

The Egyptian national team faced off against Guinea-Bissau in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, resulting in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening. Coming off a recent 2-1 win against Burkina Faso, the Pharaohs aimed to solidify their position at the top of Group A.

Despite a tough challenge playing away from home in the fourth round of qualifiers, Egypt found themselves trailing after Guinea-Bissau scored in the first half due to a defensive error. Mama Balde capitalized on a scramble inside the box, putting his team ahead in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, Egypt’s star player Mo Salah, who plays for Liverpool, made a remarkable solo effort to equalize the score by beating multiple defenders and scoring a goal. Although Salah’s goal provided opportunities for Egypt to take the lead, they were unable to secure a win in the remaining minutes of the game.

The draw allowed Egypt to maintain a six-point lead at the top of their group with six matches left in the qualifiers.
