Facundo Campazzo, Real Madrid’s Argentine point guard, has been chosen as a member of this season’s Euroleague ideal quintet along with Mike James (Monaco), Nigel Hayes-Davis (Fenerbahce), Mathias Lessort and Kendrick Nunn (Panathinaikos).
The election has been carried out with the votes of the fans, the media, the coaches and the players themselves; giving a value of 25% of the total to each of them.
In the case of Campazzo, 33 years old and living his second stage in the white entity after passing through the NBA and Red Star Belgrade in between, he makes his debut in the group made up of the five best at the end of a course. His figures have contributed to this; with an average of 11.7 points, 6.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 16.9 efficiency.
In addition, the second team has been announced with the presence of two of his teammates among those selected, the Croatian Mario Hezonja and the Cape Verdean Walter Tavares. Also appearing alongside them are Kostas Sloukas (Panathinaikos), Wade Baldwin IV and Lorenzo Brown (Maccabi Tel Aviv).
It is striking that among the ten players chosen for the two quintets there is no member of the Olympiacos squad, one of the four teams qualified for the final four after eliminating Barça in five games.
For his part, Mike James, Monaco player and member of the best quintet, is the only one who has been chosen without playing in the final four in Berlin.
