The Serbian Novak Djokovic suffered this Friday, after winning his first match in the current edition of the Masters 1,000 in Rome, an accidental blow with a canteen from a fan that hit him on the back of the head and caused a small superficial wound without major consequences.
As soon as the match ended, Djokovic, in a typical gesture of the winner of the duel, approached the stands to sign autographs for the fans, mostly children, balls and photographs, or to take photos.
One of the fans, when leaning down to bring his pen closer, let a canteen escape from his backpack and hit the Serbian on the head.
‘Nole’, as EFE learned from sources in the organization, went to the infirmary to check on him, but it is “probable” that he does not need even a single stitch as it is a very superficial wound.
The Serbian tennis player overcame his debut in the Eternal City without complications with a firm victory against the Frenchman Corentin Moutet in two sets, 6-3 and 6-1, to access a third round in which he will face the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.
