Bethlehem Catholic and Nazareth continued their rivalry right into the first night of the District 11 3A wrestling tournament.
The two teams, which wrestled three epic dual meets in a three-week span to end the dual-meet season (the last two, including the PIAA 3A final, won by the Blue Eagles), are battling for another team title in the 69th annual D-11 tournament at Liberty’s Memorial Gym.
After Friday night’s action through the quarterfinals and first round of consolations, Becahi stands in first with 114 points and Nazareth second at 108. Nazareth has 8 semifinalists, the Golden Hawks 7, but Becahi has all 14 wrestlers alive in the tournament while the Blue Eagles have just 11.
Liberty is in third place with 100 points and Northampton fourth at 99.5.
Saturday’s action concludes with finals at 5:45 p.m.
