Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud put up a big-time performance and helped the Buckeyes to their first win of the 2021 season over Minnesota, 45-31.

Stroud was very shaky at the beginning of the game. Stroud was unable to throw his first touchdown pass in college until the second quarter, when he and Chris Olave connected for a 38-yard touchdown. This was the final push Stroud needed and the Buckeyes needed in order to win the game.

Stroud threw four touchdown passes during the game, two to Olave and one to Garrett Wilson and TreVeyon. He was 13-for-22 and had 294 passing yards. He also made an interception.

“I spoke to him before we went into this match and that no matter what happens, we’re going out to push it and keep throwing it. He missed some early on but we just kept moving forward,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said to FOX’s Jenny Taft shortly after the game.

“A freshman quarterback is a rookie quarterback and you’re not used to throwing college passes. You need to learn how to do that. He did, and I think the older guys really helped him in the offense.
