Josep Betalú (45), from the KH7 team, has set out to return to the scene in the Škoda Titan Desert.
Quadruple champion of the race (from 2015 to 2018), Beta has prevailed in the sprint of the fourth stage, between Fezzou and the dunes of Merzouga (136 km), the main candidates of the test, Fran Herrero and Konny Looser, who retains the lead with a second margin over Herrero.
“I am very happy, yesterday I missed the stage and the day before yesterday I fell. She had good feelings, but did not finish off. This time it has been a tougher day, more adaptable to my conditions. After selecting the group of six to three, Konny, Fran Herrero and I were left, I attacked at the end and I was able to achieve a very important victory”, said Betalú, who had not signed up for a stage for two years and is now fourth in the overall, 4m47s behind the third, Roberto Bou.
Among the women, Ariadna Ródenas has won the stage, but Vera Looser is still the leader.
