Vélez Sarsfield suspended the contracts of the four footballers who were accused of sexual abuse allegedly committed on March 3 in San Miguel de Tucumán, northwest of Argentina. The players reported are the goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa, the midfielder José Florentín, the former Mallorca player Braian Cufré and the promising Abiel Osorio, who were “deprived of their freedom” this Monday.

In a statement released on its social networks, the Liniers neighborhood entity, which had already removed them from the group’s dynamics preventively, reported that it “resolved the suspension of the employment contract” of Sebastián Sosa, José Florentin, Braian Cufré and Abiel Osorio, accused of “sexual abuse with aggravated carnal access by two or more people.”

The victim, a 24-year-old female journalist, accused the soccer players several days after the attack allegedly committed on March 3, detailing that they abused her in a hotel where she had gone to an agreed date with the Uruguayan goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa.

Justice requested, after the woman submitted to the Gesell camera, that the players be “deprived of liberty” for 48 hours, until a new hearing is held that will determine whether they go to preventive detention, which will be held this Wednesday.

According to the complainant’s lawyers, the accused agreed to hand over DNA samples and their mobile phones for the corresponding expert opinion.

The events allegedly occurred on Sunday, March 3, when the team was in the town in northwest Argentina for a League Cup match against Atlético Tucumán. After a series of messages exchanged between Sosa and her on Instagram, the woman went to the Hilton hotel at midnight after the duel against the ‘Dean’, which ended 0-0.

Shortly after, Osorio, Cufré and Florentín would join, with whom they shared a few cans of beer and a few drinks of Fernet – a well-known national cocktail based on an alcoholic drink of Italian origin and a cola soft drink. After that, the young woman began to feel dizzy and lay down on one of her beds.

According to the victim, from that moment on the abuse occurred and, after a few hours, when he was able to recover, he left the room and requested a vehicle through the application to return to his home. Three days later, the young woman went to the local police to file a complaint and handed over the clothes she wore that night for analysis.

In addition to suspending his contract, the club announced that it has ordered “the start of an internal summary so that, as soon as possible, the definitive measures to be taken with respect to the four players are determined.” Likewise, the entity reiterated “its deepest concern about the reported events” as they are “clearly contrary to the principles and values” of the institution.
