Carlos Alcaraz secured, this Tuesday, his place in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, preparing to face a demanding challenge against the German player Alexander Zverev. The Murcian got the place after beating the Hungarian Fábián Marozsán (n.58) 6-3 and 6-3. For his part, Zverev (n.6), came back against the Australian Álex de Miñaur (n.10) 5-7, 6-2 and 6-3 in two hours and 47 minutes.

For Alcaraz, facing Zverev will be an easy task, since the German player has proven to be a very tough opponent in the past, having managed to beat the Spaniard on five occasions. It is for this reason that he makes him the most difficult opponent on the circuit for the young man from Murcia.

Of the eight previous meetings between the two, Alcaraz has only been able to win on three occasions. Importantly, the last two times they met, Zverev emerged victorious, defeating Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the last Australian Open and in the group stage of the 2023 ATP Finals.

For his part, Alcaraz’s last victory against Zverev came on American soil, when he won the quarterfinals of the US Open last September.

The winner of Alcaraz-Zverev could meet in the semifinals with Jannik Sinner (n.3), who is going through an excellent moment and who was proclaimed champion this year of the Australian Open and Rotterdam. The Italian won 7-6(4) and 6-1 against the American Ben Shelton (no. 16). Counting the three victories he added to help Italy lift the Davis Cup in November, Sinner is 18-0 in his last 18 games.

The Indian Wells Masters 1000 match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev will be played this Thursday, March 14, at 11:00 p.m. in Spain. The meeting can be seen through Movistar and can also be followed live through the La Vanguardia website.
