Adrian Newey's future between Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton

Adrian Newey is in the center of attention as the teams work on improvements to close the gap ahead of the next Miami GP this weekend. The future of one of the most privileged minds in Formula 1 continues to be the main topic in the paddock.

After saying goodbye to Red Bull after a glorious stage, which still continues with Verstappen’s reign, Newey’s future tends towards two colors: the green of Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin or the Ferrari red that Lewis Hamilton will soon wear .

A few weeks ago, Lawrence Stroll presented a million-dollar offer to the British engineer, anticipating the new engine regulations for 2026.

Aston Martin will join HONDA in this project, in addition to the attraction of working alongside Fernando Alonso, a wish expressed by Adrian Newey on several occasions that would bring him closer to victory ’33’ and the possibility of competing again to win a World Cup.

On the other hand, there is the possibility that the Ferrari team, which has already secured the incorporation of a seven-time world champion like Lewis Hamilton, will seek to lead the team back to glory. The last time the team won the drivers’ world championship was in 2007.

The ‘Prancing Horse’ team has entered the table with force since it wants Adrian Newey at the controls no matter what the cost. Something that would put its two drivers in the favorite pools: Hamilton and Leclerc.

In an interview conducted in 2023, the Briton expressed his regret for not having had the opportunity to work at Ferrari, alongside drivers of the stature of Hamilton or Alonso. He mentioned: “Ferrari? Emotionally yes, I regret it. And working with Fernando and Lewis would have been fabulous, but it never happened. “It’s the circumstances, that’s how things are.”

Several media outlets claim that the decision has already been made and points towards Aston Martin as it is a much calmer environment than the Italian one. However, as has already been seen on more than one occasion, in the world of Formula 1 anything can happen.
