A new Atlantic front will sweep this Thursday from northwest to southeast across the Iberian Peninsula, leaving in its wake abundant cloudiness and widespread rainfall throughout the country, although more intense and persistent in Galicia and the Western Cantabrian Sea, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency. (Aemet). In addition, it will cause a sharp drop in temperatures. This front arrives after the DANA that affected the south of the peninsula at the beginning of the week.
It will rain more heavily in Galicia and the western Cantabrian environment, without ruling out that heavy rainfall may occur in the northwest half of Galicia and in the west of Asturias.
The rain will lose intensity as the front moves towards the southeast. According to the Aemet forecast, it is unlikely to reach the Mediterranean coasts of the peninsula, and it is not expected in the Balearic Islands, where slightly cloudy skies or high clouds will predominate.
There will be a marked drop in temperatures, especially notable in areas of the central north of the peninsula. The minimum temperatures will increase in the Balearic Islands and areas of the eastern peninsula. Maximum temperatures increasing in Mediterranean areas and with few changes in the Canary Islands. In Burgos, Lugo or León they will not exceed 19 degrees; On the other hand, in Malaga or Murcia it will reach 31 degrees.
The Aemet expects moderate winds to blow from the west and southwest in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, which will become strong in the Cantabrian Sea, and with strong intervals in Alborán, the coasts of Galicia and the southeast of the peninsula.
For Friday, there will still be “holes of instability” in Galicia and in the Cantabrian communities, although some occasional showers are not ruled out in the southeast of the peninsula, in parts of southern Castilla-La Mancha and in eastern Andalusia, according to the agency’s spokesperson, Rubén Del Campo.
Friday will once again be a “cool day for the season” in many communities, with daytime values ??that in the central area could be between 5 and 10 degrees below usual and with intense winds in the Cantabrian Sea and in areas of the middle north, as in the Ebro Valley.
