The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that this week there will be a transition towards an Atlantic situation, a change that will leave intermittent rainfall in some parts of the country. The agency speaks of “change in weather” as the week progresses, especially starting Wednesday, when Spain will be affected by Atlantic storms, rain and snow in the mountains. The most abundant will occur in the extreme north and west.
This transition from an anticyclonic situation to an Atlantic situation will begin this Monday. There will be cloudy or covered skies with cloudiness associated with the front extending from west to east in the center of the peninsula, except in the Mediterranean area and extreme south where there will be cloudy intervals.
Weak rainfall is expected in the northern third, which will be more abundant in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and with snow in the Pyrenees, continues the Aemet.
Maximum temperatures will tend to increase on the Mediterranean side, Ebro, the Balearic Islands and the Cantabrian coast. Instead, they will go down almost everywhere inside. Weak frosts will be recorded in the Pyrenees.
The winds will blow from the west in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, tending to intensify, with strong intervals on the Cantabrian coasts, under the Ebro, Estrecho and Alborán. Asturias, Cantabria, Tarragona, Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya will be at yellow risk due to coastal phenomena.
Little rainfall is expected on Tuesday, but from Wednesday instability is likely to increase with rainfall in the northwest and west thirds that will move towards the east and affect the entire territory, although it is expected to have a lower incidence in the southeast.
These precipitations will be abundant in the western third and will probably increase and will be in the form of snow in the mountain areas of the north, without ruling them out in the surrounding areas, Aemet predicts.
