Storm Elisa will leave instability and maritime storms in the north of the peninsula this Friday, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). With this new front, locally persistent rainfall is expected in western Galicia, in addition to intervals of strong wind on the coasts of Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea.
Cloud cover will be abundant in Galicia and the eastern Cantabrian Sea, especially in the west of this community and the coast of the Basque Country. Throughout the day, it will extend towards the southeast, affecting rainfall, in a weaker way, to the northern plateau, upper Ebro and Pyrenees without ruling out, less likely, surrounding areas.
In the Mediterranean area and Atlantic Andalusia, slightly cloudy skies will gradually predominate, with some areas of morning clouds. Morning mists and fog banks are also expected in scattered areas of the southern half. As the day progresses, they will extend along the northern Atlantic slope.
According to the Aemet forecast, a generally weak westerly wind will blow, more intense on the coasts, especially in Galicia, Cantabria, Melilla and the Balearic Islands, with strong intervals and very strong gusts. The orange warning has been activated in the Basque Country, Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria due to coastal phenomena.
Regarding temperatures, this Friday we will have rising values. The minimum temperatures will increase in the midlands of the Canary Islands, northwest and southeast of the peninsula; They will descend in the center and southwest. The maximum temperatures will increase in Galicia and decrease in the center and southwest.
After the passage of Storm Elisa, the so-called summer of San Martín will arrive, which is celebrated on November 11 and which “could continue during the first days of the following week,” predicts the agency’s spokesperson, Rubén del Campo. .
Temperatures will rise clearly in most parts of the country so that at the weekend the frosts will be practically limited to high mountain areas of the Pyrenees, although they will also lose ground there. In the Mediterranean regions it will exceed 25 degrees and between 15 and 20 degrees will be reached in most of the interior of the peninsula and it will even exceed 20 degrees in Andalusia.
