The week will end with a humid spring atmosphere in the northern half of the peninsula, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, with cloudiness and also with rain in these areas, occasional in the rest of the country, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

And that will also be noticeable in the temperatures, cool for the time of year, between 5 and 10 degrees below usual. “More typical of April than May,” summarizes the agency in a publication on X (formerly Twitter).

This Thursday, a situation of instability will persist in the northern half of the peninsula, with cloudy or overcast skies and precipitation from the early hours in Asturias and Galicia, which in the afternoon will tend to spread to other regions of the northern third.

The rains will be more abundant in the northwest of Galicia and may be persistent on the coast. Furthermore, they are not ruled out, at first, in points on the Cantabrian slope, the upper Ebro and the Pyrenees, according to the Aemet.

In the afternoon they will tend to intensify and extend to other regions of the northern third, being also probable, occasionally, in the rest of the northern half, southwestern regions and in the Balearic Islands, where cloudy intervals will predominate. They may be accompanied by a storm in the northeast of the peninsula.

This Thursday will be the coolest day of the week, with daytime values between 5 and 10 degrees below normal for the time, the agency continues. A slight decrease in maximum and minimum temperatures is expected in most of the country, following the downward trend of the previous days. In the Guadalquivir valley they will not exceed 22 degrees either.

Starting on Friday, a gentle but continuous thermal rise will begin, until temperatures gradually rise to values typical of the season. On Sunday it will probably already exceed 20 degrees in most of the country and 25 in the south and the Balearic Islands.
