Very warm and with an umbrella in hand. This is how those attending the parades organized to receive their majesties will have to go, especially in the north and somewhat less on the Mediterranean coast, because both night and day will be marked by cold and rain, according to the special forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
For this Thursday, the passage of several fronts will leave abundant cloudiness and precipitation in much of the territory. Precipitation is probable, on the one hand, in a large part of the southeastern half, moving towards the south and east, affecting Catalonia with less probability and, on the other hand, extending from Galicia through the northwest third of the peninsula. They could be accompanied by a storm in the southwest of the peninsula.
One of these fronts will be accompanied by an outbreak of polar maritime air, which will cause a decrease in the snow level, which on the 4th will be around 1400-1600 meters in the northern half of the peninsula, while on the day it could be between 800 -1000 meters throughout the Peninsula.
This new air mass will also cause a general drop in temperatures on January 5, the eve of Three Kings Day, which will increase the extent of areas with night frosts.
This Friday, rainfall is also expected throughout the day in the mountains, and will cease in flat areas of the Peninsula, and may be locally strong in the east of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands at the end. In the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, the post-frontal situation will leave cloudy or overcast skies and locally strong rainfall and some storms.
Three Kings’ Day, Saturday, will bring cold but more stable weather except for the Cantabrian coast. Thus, temperatures will be colder and rains will be more persistent in the Cantabrian Sea and Galicia. In the rest of the country, the skies will be slightly cloudy, except for areas of Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha, where there will be cloudiness and cold weather.
Sunday will be more stable and although the weather will continue to be very cold throughout the day. The sun will shine throughout the national territory, except in the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, where rain and overcast skies will continue, according to the Aemet forecast.
