“Another year we went out into nature to shout for her. The action that will take place next Saturday is a call to attention to our model of production and consumption. We must reduce the generation of waste in the first instance and, in addition, be responsible for the place where it ends up. Carrying out a circular economy is the responsibility of all people, and what we cannot afford is for nature to receive what we have left over, contaminating it and affecting numerous species and habitats,” says Miguel Muñoz, coordinator of the Libera Project. in SEO/BirdLife.

In the words of Sara Güemes, coordinator of the Libera Project at Ecoembes: “At Libera, we are proud to continue advancing and raising awareness about the importance of keeping our natural environments clean. At Libera, we believe that although garbage is not one’s responsibility, it is everyone’s problem. We are all part of the problem, but we are also part of the solution. Thanks to the participation of volunteers, town halls, associations and all the collaborators of this campaign, we can investigate, find solutions and address the environmental problem of garbage”.

In the last edition of ‘1m2 against garbage’, more than 12,000 volunteers gathered simultaneously. Thanks to all of them, 104 tons of garbage were removed from 711 natural spaces in all the Spanish provinces.
