The Holy Week that has just begun will be marked by a roller coaster of thermal contrasts, although in general stable weather will predominate in the country as a whole, punctuated by the typical spring showers, as expected by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

“A very stable environment in almost the entire country,” confirms the spokesman Rubén del Campo, who adds that there will be nocturnal frosts on the northern plateau, central páramos and mountain areas, while during the day temperatures will rise throughout Spain. In this way, he highlights that there will be a marked thermal contrast between the cold early morning temperatures and the warm early afternoon, since the thermal amplitude can be from 18 to 20ºC.

After this Sunday there was a thermal drop in almost the entire country, this Monday the predominance of the northerly wind that is dominating the atmospheric situation these days will continue. According to the latest advance from the AEMET, during the first half of the day there will be some light rainfall in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, which could affect eastern Catalonia and the Balearic Islands in a more isolated way.

The rain will not reach the rest of the country, where stable weather will predominate, with intervals of medium and high clouds in the western half of the peninsula, and the possibility of some light rain in western Galicia. Regarding temperatures, the maximum will be on the rise, except in the Mediterranean area and in the Canary Islands where they will drop; On the other hand, the minima will tend to descend in the southern half, east of the northern plateau, the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands and to rise in the northwest of the peninsula.

For Holy Tuesday, the entry of a DANA (isolated depression at high levels) is expected, which will advance from western Portugal to the interior of Africa, passing between the Gulf of Cádiz and the Canary Islands. “Most likely, the weather in general will continue stable but the presence of DANA will increase the uncertainty in the prediction in certain areas,” they warn in their forecast.

For tomorrow, precipitation is likely in the north of the Canary Islands and the Strait area; and, with less probability and more dispersed, they are also possible in the rest of the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean area. The maximum temperatures will tend to rise in general, except in the Mediterranean area, the Canary Islands and the Strait, where they will drop.

For Holy Wednesday and Thursday, it is most likely that the atmosphere will remain stable and without precipitation in practically the entire country. The meteorologists explain that there is only a probability of weak rainfall in the area of the Strait and in the north of the Canary Islands. Temperatures will tend to rise in general, maintaining frost in inland areas of the northern half, although increasingly restricted to mountain areas.

Uncertainty grows ahead of Good Friday and this weekend. According to the AEMET, there is a possibility of precipitation in the extreme north and in the northeast of the peninsula, especially in Catalonia. These rains could extend to other areas of the north of the peninsula and the Mediterranean area, although with less probability.

Instability will also predominate in the Canary Islands, where, starting on Saturday, precipitation may arrive that will spread from west to east. In the rest of the country, the stable atmosphere will continue to dominate, the state agency concludes.

In its special forecast for Easter, the AEMET recalls that “the reliability of the predictions is higher at the beginning of the forecast period and decreases as it gets further away in time”, so it advises following the next updates that it will issue in the following days.
