Spain says goodbye to a DANA that has left significant accumulations of water in municipalities such as Orihuela (Alicante), where 23.6 liters per square meter have fallen, 20 of them in just ten minutes, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet ).

After the passage of the DANA, as of Wednesday the thermometers will begin a continuous ascent. On Saturday the maximum will reach a ceiling and we could touch 40ºC in the southwest, according to eltiempo.es. In the rest of the country, temperatures will be above 30ºC, except in Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria.

This stabilization and rise in temperatures responds to the arrival of a ridge in Spain, structures in the middle and upper layers of the atmosphere, characterized by downward air movements and stability.

The instability will continue this Wednesday, with rains and showers in the eastern Cantabrian Sea, the Pyrenean environment and especially in the Balearic Islands, where they will be accompanied by storms and will be locally strong, tending to subside throughout the day.

According to the Aemet forecast, stable weather will prevail in the rest of the Peninsula, without ruling out some weak and occasional precipitation in other areas of the northeastern third. The maximum temperatures will increase in general, except in the extreme southeast of the peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where they will remain with little change.

The thermometers will go up as the week progresses. By Friday, the daytime temperatures may exceed 35 degrees in the valleys of the main rivers of the peninsular southwest, as well as in areas of the lower Ebro. And the minimum temperatures will be higher than 18 or 20 degrees in the peninsular southwest and the Mediterranean area, from agreement with the state agency.

The hottest day will be Saturday. This day the maximum will reach a ceiling and could be close to reaching 40 ºC in points of the peninsular southwest. The areas where the heat will hit the hardest will be in the Guadalquivir valley: up to 39ºC expected in Córdoba.

In other areas of the southwest, such as Extremadura, western Castilla-La Mancha, the interior of Andalusia or the Ebro valley, they could also reach or even exceed 35ºC, according to eltiempo.es. Below 30 ºC would only be the regions of the northwest of the peninsula and the Canary Islands, with around 22 ºC in A Coruña or 24 ºC in Santander.

Between Sunday and Tuesday of next week, temperatures could drop, but it would be a temporary drop caused by a trough that would also bring instability, these meteorologists anticipate.
