The Popular Party of Catalonia was not resurrected in Jerusalem or Greater Bilbao but in a room at the Gran Marina hotel in Barcelona, ??with a pianist in the cafeteria who played Michelle and pieces of the like, hardly euphoric. They call the matter liven up.

The euphoria last night in the Gran Marina was already put by Alejandro Fernández, lyrics and music, among the joy of a troop that three years ago saw the wolf’s ears and now seems to be well on its way. “That disaster” of 2021, the leader said as if he were talking about the nakba, which they have survived with flying colors: fivefold seats, which is not small.

From less to more, like the gypsy parties, the people of the PP of Catalonia breathed happily with the panorama that does not allow them to govern but does allow them to see them coming from a shadow box, waiting for others to assume the pacts, to back out or not and the brown of managing parliamentary arithmetic.

“We have achieved all our objectives,” the Secretary General summarized amidst applause because he even declared the war over: the process is dead. And the best thing is that it has been, as Fernández says, “at the polls.” He did not say that it was over, but rather that it had been “finished”, because we are faced with a thorough and well-read parliamentarian, a good speaker, in the words of those who vote for him and do not vote for him, who are already a little fed up with parliamentarians from Chichinabo.

–I thought there would be canapés…

A friend and supporter of the PP confesses that he was expecting canapes on this round night. Although canapés have gone down in the history of book presentations, baptisms and election nights, the man was somewhat right: if on nights like this there are no canapés, may God come down and see!

In the absence of canapés, the popular ones snacked on Ciudadanos voters, whose victory in 2017 and final in 2024 constitutes an example for Political Science textbooks. They have been snacked on but with affection, shown with apparent sincerity and without the intention of being rude by David Fernández, who welcomed them to his house.

There is no way, however, to indulge in Vox, the erotic fantasy of every popular leader. The dream of what the constitutionalist right could be and is not in Catalonia.

Three years of penance behind them, the PP once again has its own group in the Parliament and more firepower, hence the hugs and the conviction that on Génova Street in Madrid, headquarters of the PP, they are proud of them or for At least satisfied enough to let them do their thing and not reduce them to errand boys or girls, a bad habit.

“We are sensible Catalonia,” said Dolors Montserrat. It is not advisable to exaggerate either because in a week we will be back in the electoral campaign and in just another appointment with the polls and between Pedro and Alberto, common sense sounds like one of those melodies that the hotel pianist played last night. Enjoyable but of unattainable happiness.
