The offensive of the PP against the Spanish Government for the alleged corruption plot known as the Koldo case does not stop for Easter, and yesterday the viacrucis that the opposition traces for the PSOE added a new station in the figure of the prosecutor General of the State, Álvaro García Ortiz.
The spokesperson of the PP in Congress, Miguel Tellado, echoed a publication of the digital The Objective that sows doubts about the management of García Ortiz, who is accused of slowing down the investigation into the alleged corrupt plot that enriched with the collection of commissions for the purchase and sale of health equipment during the pandemic to favor the interests of Pedro Sánchez.
According to this information, the anti-corruption prosecutor Luis Pastor had ready the draft of the complaint against Koldo García Izaguirre – advisor to the Ministry of Transport during the time of José Luis Ábalos – and the twenty defendants at the end of June 2023, shortly before the general elections on July 23, but the General Prosecutor’s Office delayed the processing of the visa, the necessary approval to raise the file to the National Court, longer than the usual two or three weeks.
This was so, Tellado hinted, because García Ortiz wanted to protect the president of the central government from the consequences of the outbreak of this scandal in the middle of the electoral campaign, an “extremely serious” attitude as a result of which the attorney general, first , he should give explanations and, immediately, resign, since he has been “disabled to continue one more day” in office, assured the popular leader.
However, the police operation, which was in charge of the central operative unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, was under summary secrecy, a situation that lasted until there were the arrests of the alleged members of the plot , reason for which, according to judicial sources consulted, “it would have been the same if the complaint was presented before or after, it would not have transpired”.
In any case, the name of García Ortiz has already been added to the list of the “ramifications” of the Koldo case on which the PP bases its strategy, which amounts to the double aspect of the corruption that it attributes to the Executive Spanish: the economic, based on the profit for marketing with masks, and the political, focused on the “exchange” of the amnesty for the seven votes of Junts, without which the re-election of Sánchez would not have been possible.
And, in this sense, Tellado called the president a “hypocrite” and “allergic to the truth” for the “theatrical lamentations” accusing the PP of seeking the polarization of Spanish society when he himself, he said, “survives ” thanks to the “wall” he has proposed to build in front of those who do not support him.
