The Generalitat de Catalunya has apologized for the incidents that occurred this Saturday during the opposition tests to convert temporary employees into civil servants, and has announced an investigation to clarify possible responsibilities.
The opposition process has received complaints of serious irregularities by unions and applicants to fill the vacancies such as delays in the start of the tests, up to six hours, overcrowding and lack of information and material.
“We empathize with these situations and consider it intolerable,” he stressed, and explained that the department has demanded information from the subcontracted company to carry out the tests, with the aim of preparing a report and analyzing the legal consequences.
This is the first time that the Generalitat has outsourced an opposition process, and Corral has pointed out that the necessary actions will be initiated to clarify responsibilities if the incidents, “as it seems ‘a priori’, can be attributable to the company”.
And he has indicated that they contemplate the possibility of “a very serious and negligent breach of the contract clauses” by the company.
Corral did not want to detail the incidents that have caused some people to not be able to carry out the tests, although he has assured verbatim that they are serious and intolerable: “We are collecting data and once the legal situations and their implications have been analyzed, we will analyze all situations.”
The Secretariat is collecting the number of people who have not been able to take the tests to analyze if they can finally be examined, and also if some tests can be repeated or not.
He has ensured that the opponents will obtain an immediate response and that, if necessary, they will analyze “case by case” once they have the legal report.
A total of 13,581 people have been summoned this Saturday to take part in the tests to cover 1,825 places, of which just over 9,000 have been examined in Barcelona.
The IAC-CATAC union has denounced on social networks that these are “the worst oppositions in the history of the Generalitat of Catalonia”, and has spoken of “chaos, disorganization, grotesque, fraud and incompetence”.
