Too many laughs about the censure motion that will be led by Ramón Tamames. Peripatetic, ridiculous, extravagant, grotesque and itinerant. Choose the adjective. Too much interest among the patums for him to decline: “Don’t do it, Ramón!”. And yet, in politics when expectations are too low and you overact in a single direction, there are usually more chances to transcend with a simple blow. Just one is enough, but let it ring. And, in fact, under the charge of Tamames, this sixth motion of democracy has spread among his lordships like gas. There has been an ecstasy of helium inhalation so great that many of our politicians have changed their tone of voice when they appeal to Ramón, with the exception of the Lehendakari in Congress, His Honor Aitor. Helium, like Tamames, is not flammable, nor explosive and has no color (political). But it is a matter of great spread. And it can cause, at high exposure levels, as we’ve seen, fainting, dizziness and pain, even among some Vox leaders.
Everything has a reason. Mr. Ramón knows the Heli Effect well. The Story of Elio, no hack, he wrote when he was 43, I read it at 18. It is a novel about the life of a friend, Elio, with several points that match the actuality We have an economist, high official of the State (Ramón?), an opinion on the policies in a society without a name (in his speech tomorrow, the Spanish one), the transition from a dictatorship to democracy at the cry of “Transmission!” (of powers) that rhymes with Motion!, and needless to say, in the outcome, an Elio who ends up leading the Government in “provision”. The work, which came third in the final of the 1977 Planeta prize, communicates a central idea that Ramón will surely expand on during the motion. I share an extract from it: “It is not enough to conquer power. Nor is it enough for that power to be legitimized through subsequent democratic elections. There is something more profound that we must not forget, fellow deputies: that popular power, which is ours, must take on the people’s desires day by day; be aware of their aspirations, discuss their problems continuously and prevent any situation from rotting”.
And what is it that stinks of rot? In our interview yesterday, Tamames said: “The problem is Frankenstein” (the Coalition). It is not, therefore, a pilgrimage operation. account The Spanish have a political culture. They do not despise the motion or Ramón and they will be attentive. They are two motions in one and there can be two results: that of Tamames as an independent and that of Santiago Abascal. The first, at the age of 89, has already technically won the pre-promotion. An example: it was an “accident”, but if the leak of his speech had been interested it would have been technically genius. Thanks to this, many of his messages have arrived literally clean, without the pim-pam-pum of the debate, such as, for example, that of Spain as an “absorbing autocracy”. The chronicles of a debate collect what one says and what the others say. And today you all already know the opinion of Tamames and the motion has not yet started. They have managed to get the motion out of the chamber and have leaked their discursive gas through all the cracks in the homes and bars of Spain, like Tito Berni.
The profitability for Vox of the motion remains to be seen. It aims, without a doubt, to make a PP-Vox government more digestible as an alternative. This is its purpose. If Tamames has not made a fuss and has accepted Vox, why not Alberto Núñez Feijóo? “If you were my father I wouldn’t leave you”, said the Galician to Ramón. Beware of fixing roles in politics, the devil loads them. Who acts as the child and who acts as the father? We are openly against the motion, but we have never underestimated it in this war room. We even proposed the entrance of other ministers such as Yolanda Díaz, as well as that the president answer not only to Abascal but, obviously, to the candidate, in order to reduce its effects. Time management is another matter. For weeks we have been warning of its consequences for PSOE and PP. Be careful with the tone, the forms, respect must prevail. It comes at a very anti-political time. With Tamames transformed into Heli, genius and figure, with hac and without H. Definitely, laughs abound.
