Sweden has dropped a possible voldtægtssag against the 48-year-old australian WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange.

It says the Swedish prosecutor’s office, at a televised news conference.

Assange was in august 2010 charged with rape and sexual assault against two Swedish women. The charges of abuse fell in 2015 to the period of limitation, while the accusation of rape continue to apply until 2020.

Still chooses the prosecution now to drop the matter.

– I have called this press conference to inform about my decision to put the investigation into the so-called Assange case, says chief prosecutor Eva-Marie Persson at the press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

A court in London decided in February 2011 that Assange could be extradited to Sweden in connection with the charges.

Before it reached so far, went to Assange, however, into Ecuador’s embassy in London and sought political asylum. It was he, and here he sat until 11. april 2019, where he was arrested after the requirements for extradition from the UNITED states.

Assange is in the u.s. regulatory spotlight as a result of a large number of confidential documents and video, published by WikiLeaks.

In 2010, WikiLeaks, among other things, a video from the Iraq war, showing iraqi civilians and journalists being shot at from a helicopter. The video was from July 2007 and created a lot of debate internationally.

Later published by WikiLeaks about 90,000 secret us documents – primarily from the war in Afghanistan. These documents originated from the soldier Chelsea Manning, who was then known as Bradley Manning.

Assange is in the UNITED states, accused of conspiracy to help Manning with illegally gaining access to confidential documents from the regeringscomputere.
