Sumar’s spokesperson in the Congress of Deputies and the party’s candidate for the Presidency of the Xunta, Marta Lois, has described as a “direct attack” on the Constitution, the proposed amendment to the PP Amnesty Law to dissolve parties that call illegal referendums that Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s party presented yesterday.
Lois has shown her party’s concern, and stated, this Thursday in an interview on TVE, that the proposal is “more typical of authoritarian regimes” than of democracy. “You may like some parties more than others,” but you cannot “go against what our Constitution also says, which is the right to plurality and the right to freedom of expression,” the spokesperson stressed.
Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya has also criticized the PP proposal, in what they describe as “one more step in the race with Vox towards totalitarianism.” The national spokesperson for the independence group, Marta Vilalta, has warned that “this is not the time they are trying to eliminate political adversaries,” through her ‘X’ profile.
ERC spokesperson Raquel Sanz has joined the criticism against Feijóo’s formation through her social networks, and has assured that, “when you cannot win in the game of democracy, you choose to dissolve and eliminate the adversary.” , before warning that “if this is not totalitarianism, it is very similar.”
