Surprise is the word that best expresses what was experienced for a few hours in the small Madrid municipality of Santorcaz. The data of the results of the last municipal elections of May 28 in this municipality of just 941 inhabitants were transmitted changed. That is, that the six councilors that the PP had initially achieved thanks to 427 votes, actually belonged to the PSOE.

And the same, but in reverse, occurred in the seventh councilor of those who make up the municipal Corporation, which was initially attributed to the PSOE, with 98 votes, although in reality it was from the PP.

That big difference in votes in a place where neighbors know each other by name quickly led one to think that it had all been a mix-up. And this has been confirmed by the representative of the local Administration in the elections. Everything has been an “error in the transmission of the data that only affects its dissemination, since the electoral board does have the record with the correct data in its possession,” she told Efe.

The Consistory has already informed the Government Delegation in the capital and the competent Ministry to make the modification. “We are in the provisional phase of these results, so we can modify them. It is only a matter of changing the database used by the media, because that is where the germ of the error lies,” added the representative of the Santorcaz City Council .
