There is no longer a duty of confidentiality in cases of sexual abuse in the catholic church.

It is Pope Francis who has revoked a pavemæssig regulation on the secrecy or confidentiality about the cases of sexual abuse.

It writes among other things, CNN, the Vatican informs.

this is the strictest form of secrecy in the catholic church, the so-called ‘pavemæssige secrecy’, which now no longer covers over cases of abuse. The rule aims to prevent the leak of sensitive information that may harm the catholic church.

Now that the Vatican’s rules on professional secrecy in the area is lifted, it is possible for the catholic church to provide documents, which is about sexual abuse, to civil authorities.

It will also be possible for victims of sexual abuse to be informed about their cases in the Vatican.
