Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Alonso Rodríguez, ex-responsible for the Ávila Command, has asked the judge in the Cuarteles case to take a statement from him in order to explain that he has not committed any irregularities.
As published by Vozpópuli and confirmed by sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) quoted by EFE, the head of the Investigating Court number 3 of Madrid has recently received a request for a statement from the police command and has not yet resolved on the same.
Carlos Alonso Rodríguez is being investigated in this case together with Lieutenant General Pedro Vázquez Jarava, who was in charge of the General Support Subdirectorate of the Civil Guard, and together with businessman Ángel Ramón Tejera de León, known as Mon and whose name appears in the summary of the Mediator case, and another businessman.
Magistrate Isabel Durantez is investigating whether, as Internal Affairs of the armed institute denounced, there were irregularities in the awarding of works from thirteen commanderies throughout Spain, which were not carried out or were partially carried out after being awarded to Tejera de León for a total value of 3.3 million euros, between 2008 and 2019.
This judicial investigation, which began in Ávila and ended in Madrid, has been stalled for eight months, waiting for an expert to be appointed to make a report to determine whether the works carried out are in accordance with the invoices.
The Provincial Court of Madrid recently refused to archive the case for one of the four defendants, precisely Carlos Alonso Rodríguez, arguing the “discordance” between the works carried out in the Civil Guard barracks in Ávila and the content of the invoices that were issued, on all after the statement of the Canarian businessman in which he admitted this alleged irregular billing.
