NEWARK — A Connecticut man admitted be bribed a New Jersey company that makes medical devices to try to secure a multi-million dollar contract.

Eugene Ostrovsky, 56, paid approximately $70,000 in bribes to an employee of the medical device company, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release on Tuesday.

Ostrovsky, the principal of a metallurgical technology company, faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to violating the Federal Travel Act. He also had to forfeit $1.1 million. The Stamford resident is scheduled to be sentenced June 29.

The Federal Travel Act forbids the use of interstate travel to commit criminal acts, though authorities didn’t provide further information.

The employee of the unnamed medical device company, Daniel Lawrynowicz, 47, of Monroe, N.Y. was charged in March 2016 with accepting the bribes. His case is still pending.

The medical device company was not named.
