Robert Norris is dead. He was 90 years old.

It can several international media mention, just like it appears on his ranches Facebook page.

Norris died 3. november, at Pikes Peak Hospice with his family around him.

Robert Norris was a familiar face, since he is one of the first appeared as raw and beautiful cowboy in the cigaretm√¶rket Marlboros iconic advertising, which gave him the nickname ‘Marlboro Man’.

In advertising, he was typically on a ranch, where he’s wearing cowboy clothes and a hat and holding a Marlboro cigarette in either corner of his mouth or hand. The role held for 14 years, but although he certainly could ensure a good rebate, so that was all for him and he was never even a smoker.

When he stopped as the face of Marlboro, it happened on the grounds that he had been the father, and his role in the advertisements:

‘was a bad role model for his children’.

Norris was born in 1929 and was a part of a family consisting of lawyers and financiers. He threw the dog his love of cattle and bought a ranch, which later was expanded by several ranches. It was through them that he got the role of the Marlboro.

As the cigaretvirksomheden showed up to browse his ranch with the intention of using it in the advertisements, did Robert Norris such a good impression that they decided to replace their professional model with Norris, when he appeared more authentic and ‘already dirty’. He later became a close friend of John Wayne.

Robert Norris’ family included four children, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. After he withdrew as the face of Marlboro was the role taken over by, among others, Wayne Dunafon and Darrell Winfield.
