– It is a nightmare I can’t wake up from. When I came home yesterday, it was like stepping into a spøgelseshus. She was not there. The children were not there. I have no idea where they are taken. The kids are my whole life.
that was the gist of the words from the familiefaren Chris Watts, when he appeared on people’s television screens and begged to get his pregnant wife and two daughters home.
Only a few hours after the interview, which awakened the compassionate feelings in many living rooms, was Chris Watts suddenly prime suspect in the case. Shortly after he was arrested at his home.

During the first interrogations he claimed that he had taken his wife to stifle the two daughters. In a rage he had choked her.
But later he changed his testimony and admitted the killings, and at the end of november, he received a sentence of imprisonment for life for murdering his family.

In august 2018 disappeared Shanann Watts, who was pregnant in the fourth month, and the daughters, Bella and Celeste, respectively, three and four years, from the family’s home in the town of Frederick by the city of Denver, Colorado. She had just returned from a business trip and a colleague had driven her home and seen her go into his house.

It was the last time, Shanann Watts was seen alive, and then disappeared, both she and the two daughters without a trace.

‘On the morning of the 13. august, I went first into the girls ‘ room before Shanann and I had our quarrel. I went into Bella’s room, so Ceces room and used a pillow from their bed. It was, therefore, the cause of death was suffocation. When I went from Ceces room, I went back into the bed with Shanann, and our argument began’, writes Chris Watts in the standard letter.

‘After Shanann was dead, woke up, Bella and Cece again. I’m not sure how they woke up again, but they did. Bella’s eyes were bruised, and both girls looked as if they had gone through a trauma’, writes the convicted murderer on.
In the letter, he describes how he had planned the murders for some time, and when he put his daughters on the evening of the 12. august, he knew that it would be the last time. He also reveals for the first time, that the murders had been trying to provoke a miscarriage by giving his wife an overdose of painkillers. And he confirms that it was all about, that he would be with his new love, Nichole.
‘Will not be pen pals’
Chris Watts has refused many requests for interviews and brevkorrespondancer. But he answered according to the 65-year-old Cheryln Cadle on her letter because she wrote that it could be a ‘history of salvation’. The two have exchanged several letters and telephone conversations, and after having met Cheryln Cadle face to face, he let her publish the book ‘Letters From Christopher: The Tragic Confessions of the Watts Family Murders’ with their letters.
