In November Gisela announced that she was expecting her first child. A news that brought her great happiness, but also a lot of fear, after many attempts and two abortions. Now, who has already completed seven months of pregnancy, the Catalan singer is calmer, but she is “like this”, because at the beginning of December she had to be admitted for nephritic colic and, to avoid an infection of kidney that could harm her and the baby, they put in a catheter that she will have to wear until the baby is born. “I’ve been in pain since they put it on me, but, luckily, the pregnancy continues,” explains Gisela.
There is no doubt that pregnancy favors her, as everyone who attended yesterday’s opening of the Mimma Gallery store, specializing in sofas and rest, in Las Rozas, Madrid, where the Catalan singer worked as godmother “These months, I’ve had to halve my work commitments, as a precaution, but by posing for photocalls or doing interviews I keep my head busy and don’t think about the risk”, Gisela explains to this newspaper about to take the AVE to return to Barcelona.
“In addition to the catheter, I am probed, I have hematuria (blood in the urine) and anemia. Without forgetting my age, since I turned 45 on January 1st, so it was important for me to overcome the seven-month barrier, since birth is more viable, even if it is born prematurely and with risks”, he says . That is why the gynecologist has already warned her that she will not wait until April 20, which is when Gisela is out of control.
Having passed the seven-month mark, Gisela and her partner, José Ángel Ortega, have already started buying clothes for the baby and receiving gifts from relatives and friends. At the moment they don’t know the sex. “In the beginning we didn’t want to have any illusions and we preferred not to know, and we continue the same, although I have to admit that now I’m curious and I don’t know if I can wait until the birth. Maybe at the next review I will ask to know”, he laughs.
Since this is the opening of a sofa store, it is almost obligatory to ask her if she spends a lot of time sitting or lying down: “The first two months I had to take absolute rest and went from the sofa to the bed and vice versa, but outside of this episode I’m taking naps, watching concerts on YouTube and reading, especially now books about motherhood”.
For some time, Gisela has been the co-presenter of the program Com mes serem on Canal Taronja, in which she interviews personalities from Anoia, and currently also collaborates in OT al día (Amazon Prime), in which the current affairs of the academy “It reminded me of my experience at Operació n Triunfo, an edition that was unrepeatable”. And he adds: “I have shared some advice with the participants, but it is difficult to compare this edition with mine, 22 years ago: now the audience is younger and social networks play a very important role”.
Gisela Lladó is very active on social networks, where she publishes images of work commitments and also of life in Bruc, where she was born and lives with José Ángel and his dogs in contact with nature: “For my work, I of posting on social networks, but if I was dedicated to another trade, I would be more of a consumer of manual work tutorials, for example”.
In 2001, Gisela was studying second year Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ??when her life took a 180-degree turn because she was chosen for the first edition of Operación Triunfo, that of Rosa López, David Bisbal, David Bustamante and Chenoa, her best friend since then. She came in eighth, but was touched by Disney’s magic wand. “I’m a hard worker, but sometimes that’s not enough and you need a stroke of luck.” The animation production company chose her among the 16 contestants for the main theme of the soundtrack of the film Peter Pan in the return to the country of Nunca Jamás. It was followed by Disenchanted, Barbie and Frozen. “My relationship with Disney has been the most important thing in my professional life, and I hope it continues with Frozen 3,” he says. Precisely with Frozen 2, she became the first Spanish singer to perform at the Oscars, since in 2020 the song Mucho más allá was nominated and Disney decided that it should be performed by all the singers who sing in the different languages.
In addition, Gisela has participated twice in the Eurovision Song Contest: in 2002 representing Spain, singing in Rosa, and in 2008 for Andorra, although she did not qualify for the final. And he has starred in musicals (Boscos endins, Grease or Aloma), he has been on the jury of Oh happy day (TV3), he has produced his own shows (Gisela and the magic book) and he has toured all over Spain with a symphonic concert, with songs from Disney and Broadway musicals. “Friday 9 February will be the last one, in Alicante, and then to prepare, raise awareness… and decide on the name”.
