The French fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro is dead in Paris, 86 years, informs his family.

Ungaro, who was known for both fashion design and perfumes, died Saturday after two years with ‘impaired health’, says a member of the family.

He retired in 2004.

Ungaro was born in Aix-en-Provence in southern France in 1933, as the son of a tailor. He has since said that he learned the basics from his father.

the Family were immigrants from Italy and they moved to Paris in 1956, where he was trained with the Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga.

Nine years later, he established his own fashion house in Paris and soon became known for his colorful style.
