The former Maersk ceo Nils Smedegaard has been appointed as chairman of the board of the british-Dutch fødevarekoncern Unilever.

This was stated by Unilever in a press release.

Unilever stands among other behind a large number of goods in the supermarkets as Knorr and Ben & Jerry. Nils Smedegaard Andersen has been a part of the Unilever board since 2015.

Unilever has over 155.000 employees and is among the world’s largest food producers. The group had last year a turnover of almost 400 billion dollars.

The current president, Marijn Dekkers, stops to focus on his own business is a Contradiction LifeSciences.

Nils Smedegaard Andersen was from 2007 to 2016, senior director of Maersk, and for the period from 2001 to 2007 he was ceo of Carlsberg.

In the time after the Maersk, he has pursued a bestyrelseskarriere. He is currently chairman of the Dutch chemical company Akzo Nobel and is a member of the board of directors of the oil giant BP.

in Addition, he is president of the Salling Group, which owns among other things, Føtex, Bilka and Netto. As a result of his new post at Unilever he stops both at BP and the Salling Group.
