Euphoria in the PP, which continues to paint the victory in the Galician elections as if they were a general election. The result of the elections in the homeland of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, questioned in his work at the head of the PP by the central government, represented so much that the absolute majority achieved served the popular president to vindicate himself against Sánchez, and even in front of his colleagues: “If they wanted it to be a plebiscite on my leadership, here is the result, and if they wanted Galicia to validate their model, here is the resounding failure of the Sanchist model”.

After the celebration in Galicia, yesterday was the turn of the national PP, in a meeting of the executive committee attended by all the barons to accompany Feijóo and Rueda, except for the Castilian-Leonese, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, and the Balearic, Marga Prohens. The PP celebrated “a great victory”, which, according to Feijóo, “has made not only the PP happy, but also many citizens from all over Spain”, because the Galician result “is the best demonstration that Spain it is condemned to be ruled by those who do not believe in it”.

The popular leader’s analysis of his territorial power was that of a person who feels reborn after being the victim, this is how he sees himself, of a campaign against him. “In the campaign we saw the worst arts and all the Sanchist machinery that had a single goal”, that the PP lose, that it could not govern. Hence the vindication of his leadership.

A campaign in which Sánchez, assured Feijóo, did not hesitate to “trust his luck to say that we are like them”. The leader of the PP was referring to the PSOE’s interpretation of the message that was transmitted about a possible pardon for Puigdemont, with conditions, in order to justify what the Spanish Government has done and was doing with the amnesty, that the two positions were the same.

“They lie about what we say, what we do and, even, about what we supposedly think, because they are ashamed of their deeds”, asserted the head of the opposition. They want to send the message, he stressed, that “I will accompany him in his drift”. But he wanted to make it clear: “I will never be like Sánchez, never”.

For all that, Feijóo brings the Galician result to his ground and his conclusion is that the Galicians, at the first electoral date after the general elections and taking into account the agreements with the pro-independence parties and the amnesty that is being prepared, have spoken clearly: “They have punished the division, the lie. They have punished Sánchez and awarded the PP”.

In addition, Feijóo considers the strategy maintained by Pedro Sánchez, which promotes pro-independence parties, to be “irresponsible”. A strategy that, in his opinion, “history will judge. According to the popular president, with this strategy, “the PSOE has given up being a majority party”, which leads the PP to be “the party of Spain”. Therefore, the president of the PP is clear: “Galicia has pointed the way to victory”, he said in a message that seemed to be aimed at Vox, rather than his own. “If the alternative is concentrated around the PP, we win”, and the pro-independence parties and any populism can be stopped”.

Looking to the future, the PP’s strategy will be to continue working, because “the central government has lost its social majority and the PP is now the only alternative government”. Even more, Feijóo considers that the PP is already “the only alternative for a constitutional Spain”, because it has become “the guarantor of a country for everyone, and nowhere for everyone”.
