In Esquerra Republicana they have no qualms about saying that the case of Laura Borràs “has nothing to do” with the political repression that, in their opinion, the independence movement suffers. Its deputy general secretary and spokesperson, deputy Marta Vilalta, warned Junts per Catalunya this Monday that if they do not take a “step forward” and “mix” the cause of their president with others related to the process, what they do is “whiten the repression”.

Vilalta, during the press conference after the meeting of the executive of his formation, has reiterated that the sentence of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) last week is “linked to corruption”, and has regretted that in JxCat have not taken any action after the conviction.

“Corruption cannot dirty a movement like the independence movement,” warned the leader, who believes that “showing” that her case is related to the independence movement “whitens the repression.”

Likewise, the republican spokeswoman has reiterated that they are willing to redo a pact between the independentistas in Parliament if the Junts leader resigns or if her credentials are withdrawn, as some groups have already requested of the Central Electoral Board.

Another of the authorized voices of Esquerra, the counselor of the Presidency Laura Vilagrà, has indicated this Monday from La Seu d’Urgell that it is not possible to “extend the interim situation” in the Catalan Chamber and that it is necessary to “adopt the measures that are necessary”. “The circumstances are not right now for Borràs to return to the presidency of the Parliament”, he said.

The spokesperson for En Comú Podem, Joan Mena, has also spoken about the president of JxCat, who has insisted that she must resign. “Excuses are not worth it, she should resign. We are talking with other political forces. It would be necessary for Borràs not to entrench” in office, he pointed out at the press conference. Similar reproaches have been made these days from the rest of the forces of the parliamentary arch, PSC, CUP as well as Vox, Ciudadanos and PP. On behalf of the PDECat, the organization secretary and spokesperson, Genís Boadella, has assured that in the formation of her Borràs she would not continue as president after the ruling of the TSJC and has urged an end to the interim in the Catalan Chamber.
