The last few weeks have interested the danes been able to follow the master chef Jesper Koch in the TV3 series ‘Koch’a on top’, where you get an insight into his busy day at the new, luxurious hotel Alsik in Sønderborg.
Here is the he so-called ‘creative gastronomic director, giving him responsibility for everything that is called food, wine and spirits. It is no straightforward matter, as the hotel boasts of three restaurants, a spa café, and nine banquet and conference rooms.

Before he could step in at the position, he had to find his best oratory, above. It was quickly clear that the work of Sønderborg was so demanding that he was forced to move there with both wife and children – and they were not all equally enthusiastic about the idea.
– I had to persuade the family to do it. All three children are grown up in Aarhus, he says.
– My wife, Birgitte, also comes from the North, so she was a bit easy to persuade, but then there was also I 17, Mille Marie on 15 Mars 11.

in Order to convince the children, had to Jesper to think creatively. He took them all on a two day trip to Sønderborg, under the pretext of pure relaxation and family time. He did not reveal his true errand with the visit from the start, when he first wanted to see their reaction on the city.

even Though it is 25 years since he last lived in southern Jutland in denmark, Jesper Koch certainly not forgotten where he comes from. That is why at least 60 percent of the raw material he uses in the food at the hotel Alsik, also from the province.
– For me it’s a way to pay back to the region, he explains.
– We are the one of the few regions, which still takes pride in his kitchen. For example, sønderjysk grønlangkål and the south jutland kagebord.
