The mayoress of Ripoll and Aliança Catalana candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Sílvia Orriols, has obtained a large result in the Catalan elections this Sunday, obtaining 33% of the votes in the capital of Ripollès (Girona), eleven points from it differs from Junts, which is the second formation in the municipality.
In the overall vote in Catalonia, with 99% of the scrutiny carried out, the Orriols formation bursts into the Parliament with its Islamophobic, ethnicist and anti-immigration postulates and obtains two deputies, close to 4% of the votes (117,348), distributed between Lleida (Ramon Abad) and Girona. The formation has not obtained any representatives for Barcelona and Tarragona.
In this sense, Aliança Catalana has prevailed in the municipalities of Les Lloses (35%) and Campdevànol (26%); while Gombrèn (25%) went on to win a technical tie with Junts, in the province of Girona and bordering Ripoll. In the region of Ripollès, it has come second with 25% of the vote, behind Junts (31%).
For now, the leader of Aliança Catalana has not commented on the matter. Yes, he did it in Ripoll at the closing of the campaign in the middle of the festival, he warned that “no one has come to like us, we have come to save Catalonia”, with a clear message towards the “boycotts and censorship” of his formation in this electoral cycle and that he assured that there are real options to enter the Parliament “with up to four deputies.”
Sílvia Orriols (1984), mother of five children, diploma in Library Economics and Documentation from the University of Vic,
He was a member of the National Front of Catalonia and was part of the European lists of this party in 2004; a party with which she shares a good part of her undisguisedly xenophobic discourse and from which she ended up separating to establish her own brand: Aliança Catalana.
The far-right pro-independence party governs Ripoll, against the odds, from 2023, with 30% of the votes and 6 councilors. As the alternative pact between ERC, PSC and the CUP to make Chantal Pérez (ERC) mayor does not come to fruition.
